Your home, simplified.

About

Home is our sanctuary.

It should be peaceful.

It should not be a source of worry and stress.

And it should not cause you to go broke.

If you’re anything like me, you’re probably tired of seeing perfectly filtered Instagram photos featuring elaborate, expensive renovations, and there’s no way on earth you’d ever find the time to make bread from scratch. And the words “home improvement” or “cleaning schedule” probably give you a little feeling of dread.

The truth is, before I started this blog, it seemed to me that everyone else, especially online, was “doing stuff” to their home at some frenetic pace, whether it was putting their spices in pretty labeled glass jars, adding an outdoor kitchen, or buying new furniture. It felt like I lived in a different universe, because it was all I could do just to keep up with chores, meals, and basic maintenance. And I thought I was terrible at it all.

Fast forward to today, and I’m well past those feelings of inadequacy now.

Turns out, there are plenty of people in my same situation, and I would wager that many of us are a little tired of being told that we have to do all-the-things and buy all-the-things to feel good about our homes and to open them up to our friends, families, and neighbors.

One day, while sitting in the doctor’s office waiting room watching a popular renovation show on a continuous loop, it occurred to me that maybe I should set up a helpful corner dedicated to those who are probably feeling, or have felt, exactly the same way I do. You know, just regular people who don’t necessarily need perfect, or overly complicated, or something straight out of a magazine spread, but just… “good enough.”

Because you have a life to live.

Ultimately, I hope that’s what you’ll come to find here on the blog—useful tips, easy-to-understand how-to’s, and even the occasional pep talk to help reduce the overwhelm. If I’m really doing my job well, you may even breathe a little sigh of relief and say, “Whew, that wasn’t so bad. I’ve got this!”

Now, full disclosure:

There are no renovation stories or “big reveals” here. The point of this blog is not to push you to stay on the renovation hamster wheel. My goal is to encourage you to work with and enjoy what you have, so there will be no large-scale type projects here. There are some fun projects that you can breeze through in an afternoon, though!

I tend stick with what I know best, which is easy how-to’s, organization, cleaning, gardening, home product advice, money saving tips, and LIGHTNING FAST recipes. Other topics (fashion, makeup, travel) are not in my wheelhouse.

I’m not here to promote extreme minimalism, nor am I interested in pushing a load of products that you don’t need. After all, the keyword here is “simple,” right? For a product to take up any valuable real estate, either in my own place or on this blog, I must either believe in it myself and/or be able to give you my completely honest assessment of it.

I hope you’ll join me on this journey. I think it’ll be tons of good fun, and I’m so happy to have you here!
